Disciplinary Probation formally notifies a student that their behavior is unacceptable and that their actions are so serious that they may jeopardize their status as a student. The University will refrain from suspending the student as long as they meet all sanction requirements. Any additional violation of the Code of Student Conduct during the disciplinary period will result in more serious sanctions (potentially including suspension).
There are two types of Disciplinary Probation - without conditions and with conditions.
- A term probation without conditions specifies a period of probation; after this period, the student regains good standing with the University. Example: probation for one semester.
- A term probation with conditions specifies a period of probation and includes specific restrictions and/or requirements to be met during the probationary period (for example, a ban on participating in intercollegiate athletics, or a requirement to complete community service hours). The probationary period continues until the Conduct Officer determines that the conditions have been satisfied. When the term is complete and all conditions have been met, the student regains good standing with the University. Example: probation for one semester; return to good standing conditional upon completion of 20 hours of community service.
Duration: One or more semesters.
